This is Ouda, she's the mother of the main character of a novel I'm working on. Slowly. I mean she dies pretty early on in it, but is still a fairly notable character because she means so much to him. I've tried drawing her many times and never was satisfied with the results. I knew what kind of look I wanted her to have, but never was sure of exactly what she looked like. but I'm glad I kept at it because I do this this works well for her. She...WAS the queen, ended up dying of an unknown illness, which has relevance to the plot but to explain why would take up too much time. She's an interesting paradox. Because the marriage was arranged and she was chosen because on the surface she's everything that country desires in a woman. She has the physical features considered most desirable to the society she grew up in. She's submissive and even tempered. Which is ironically because she's a peace seeker. The people of this nation aren't known for being merciful or understanding. But all of these serve the story, because without her influence the main character wouldn't be who he is. her race does typically sport three small horns, but nobility in this particular country cut them off or pain over them in females, or in her case both. That would be the red on her forehead. I mean the horns do serve a purpose, but cutting them off where the protrude doesn't effect them much. Other that to probably hurt like hell.
When this was a sketch it looked like it had a lot of detail, but after all the flat colours were down it seemed lacking in comparison to what it was meant to be. So I ended up adding a lot of stuff later. And it still isn't as detailed as it could be, considering she's a queen. But at that point I couldn't come up with anything else that I liked the look of. So we end up with this. I'm very happy with it other than that.
