Helms Richter is a Navy war veteran who was forced to retire early, due to a bullet wound to the heart that left him with only a few years to live at best before his heart fails completely from the damage. He was among the best ever to come out of the Navy, having learned martial arts and how to survive in even the harshest conditions. His nerves have been tempered as if from steel as a result of his experiences.

He carries a generally gruff disposition towards most people, especially kids. It is rather difficult to get on his good side. And while he still has his nerves intact, despite the horrors of war that he faced, he greatly prefers to be left alone in peaceful solitude away from populated areas.

When the big event that changed the human race into anthros came, Helms was turned into an eagle anthro. This transformation brought with it another change as well. Not only did he turn into the very icon of his country, but his heart had also miraculously regenerated good as new. Filled with renewed life, Helms felt truly free and used his newfound ability of flight to take to the skies and explore the world in ways he could only dream of. He had since changed his last name to Eagleton, though technically it would be his middle name.

Like all anthros, Helms' muscle mass and strength had increased exponentially to the point where he can lift upwards of several tons! He's been known to reach flying speeds of Mach 2 for very brief periods. And while he still prefers to be left alone; little does he know that his destiny will lead him to become a natural leader of thousands in a war that will surely come.
