Decided to make a reference for a personal weapon for my sona Rennis, it's viking based but made to be a large sword as he's 7'3 and stronger than a human would be.
Used a few different sources to find some reference images and started sketching it out as a (normally) 2 handed sword with a tiger motif.
It's 4 feet long (48 inches, or 122 centimeters) total with a 5 inch (13 centimeters) wide blade with roughly an 8 inch (20 centimeters) grip length.
Using the numbers I associated the reference images with...
1. Tiger head for pommel made of bronze as is cross guard.
2. How the handle is rapped/pattern of grip.
3. Brown suede for grip/rap material.
4. Two tone blade colour, polished edge with forge/hammer darkened fuller.
5. Knotwork pattern on spacer rings below and above grip, rings are steel.
6. Example of how the cross guard uses a paw&claw motif and how it fits.
7. Runic lettering for blade, spells out "Tora Clan".
8. Example that blade was not intentionally drawn wobbly...
9. Reference for scabbard design/style.
