I tend to just give people a light nod. Everyone almost always returns it, it's almost like it's instinctive or something

I'm with Feathergrove: nods are more comment in my area.-
Oh the nod is certainly a thing, I just find most people add a smile to it and I'm over here looking like a sociopath.

I definitely do that, its almost like a stare-down. its weird because other places in the midwest dont do that and smile and greet strangers and other creepy stuff but in chicago its definitely a thing
