Copper and Lumber Store by Red Dragonette

Copper and Lumber Store

Red Dragonette

This exhibit sign was by itself because my battery was dying and I wanted to save power for the other stuff I'll see.

"It was built as a warehouse with three feet thick walls to store copper sheets used to cover vessel hulls and lumber for their repair. This building has an inner courtyard that is accessed by a series of arches and is open to the elements, which likely provided ventilation to the timbers stored within and light into the interior of the structure. The roof has numerous dormer windows, protected by hurricane shutters and is clad with wood shingles.

There are four brick cisterns attached to the building on the east and west sides. Historically, the seamen slept in their hammocks upstairs. Today, the building is a hotel with 14 elegantly refurbished suites and a venue for events."
