Fia hadn't been looking for trouble.

All she had asked for was one of the bandits that had attacked the caravan. She didn't feel like it was too much to ask: she had done her job by defending the caravan from the attack, after all, and she felt that one little bandit was a reasonable request for compensation. But no, her client had insisted that they all be brought with the caravan to their destination so they could be "brought to justice" and "held accountable for their crimes." Fia understood, but did he really need all of them?

When they had arrived safely in the city, Fia's client had invited her to a feast he was holding in his mansion that night. Fia agreed, not wanting to offend, but she was still hungry and not particularly interested in the dead, charred meat that so many others seemed to find so appealing. She had done a good job, so she felt it perfectly reasonable to slip away from the other revelers in search of a more appetizing meal.

She hadn't meant any harm. She really hadn't thought that her client would miss one maid. And there was definitely no way she could have known that the girl she found was not, in fact, a maid. In all fairness, her client's daughter looked absolutely nothing like him.

Unfortunately, an actual maid had walked in on her while she was still finishing up her meal, and now here she finds herself, running for her life with her last meal still kicking and screaming, and on top of that, she's almost certainly not getting paid. She may not have been looking for trouble, but trouble always seemed to find her.

Well, at least she wasn't hungry.
