Razlin Vishvirappu the Scaleless ~ Vampire Naga

Prostapheresys

Been waiting for Halloween to post this new spooky OC: say hi to Razlin Vishvirappu the Scaleless, a Vampire Naga! Or "Lamia" if you prefer...
He'll slither in and out of shadows, able vanish by merging with the darkness itself, only to re-form his coils all around you when you least expect it! Ehehe... and when you can't escape his grip anymore... you will fill his fangs on your neck...

About Nagas:
The Nagas are a species of serpentine-looking people, with a humanoid torso but possessing a long and strong tail in place of the legs. The facial features of a Naga are usually similar to an ophidian snout too, although most females of this species tend to have a more gentle and feminine-looking visage, almost human-like. There are four main Naga ethnic groups, recognisable by the head type: “Noble Nagas” sport a cobra-like hood, “Gorgon Naga” have a plethora of snake heads for hair (though these heads are not actual living snakes, but rather appendages that mimic snakes), “Echidna Nagas” have tails with rattles growing from the nape as well as a larger rattle on their own tail tip, and “Common Nagas”, who have no prominent features adorning their snake-like heads.
They are all accustomed in the use of magic, although their rigid family traditions usually imply that they only learn the narrow but hyper-specialised applications of magic explored and passed down from previous generations. Most peculiar is also the fact that Nagas are born without (or with very underdeveloped) arms, presumably as an evolutionary trait that makes the birth easier for the mother; the arms slowly completing their development as they reach adulthood.
Finally, Nagas are famous, or notorious, for the powerful substance they secrete from their fangs, known as "Naga Elixir", which is both venomous and curative: in fact if it comes in contact with blood (usually by injection with a bite) it will quickly spread through the victim's body and bring death, but if it is instead ingested, then the venom will be simply neutralized by the stomach acids, leaving a medicinal substance that is highly effective against viruses, bacterial infection and even poisons. Most surprisingly, the Naga Elixir is its own antidote.

About Vampires:
Although the actual nature of Vampirism (be it a parasite, bacterium, virus, etc.) is still to be determined, it is safe to assume that Vampirism is a pathogen transmitted through contact between infectious blood from a Vampire and a victim’s bodily fluids; any creature exposed this way can thus become a Vampire (leading to erroneous Mythix nomenclature in the past, like “Lamias” that are actually just Vampire Nagas and not a different species). However, such exposure will lead to a coma as the organism’s immune system goes haywire while attempting to reject the vampiric blood, and there are no records of victims recovering after the comatose stage. Current data shows that 65% of the victims die within 72h from first exposure, 5% remain in a vegetative, unresponsive coma, and the remaining 30% turn into Vampires themselves after 7-10 days. It is speculated that the comatose stage prior to the transformation is what lead to the belief that Vampires raise from the dead, as they were probably mistaken for dead and buried while still in coma.
The transformation is generally accompanied by the loss of hair, fur and/or scales, and a sudden melanin-deficiency, hence the pale and sickly look of most Vampires. Then the eyes turn crimson or bloody red and become much more light-sensitive, further explaining why Vampires are nocturnal creatures: a strong light source can easily dazzle them, while UV light causes 3° degree burns in just 5 minutes. But the most fearsome change, are the fangs they grow for sucking the blood of other creatures.
Their mutated bodies might have lost their natural ability to self-heal, but with the right amount of blood they can just regenerate any damaged body part, and as long as they keep sustaining their bloody diet, Vampires are immune to age and sickness. They even gain supernatural powers, which grow stronger over time, and over the deaths of multiple victims sucked bone-dry… but as their power grows, so does their bloodlust. It is believed that over the course of centuries the crave for blood becomes unsustainable, so while they can’t technically die of old age, they ultimately starve to death… although there are no historical records to confirm this.
