This was done for Mark Brooks' "CrayonChallenge". The idea is simple: Take "Cheap" and make something awesome It doesn't need to be crayons, it just needs to be stuff that isn't considered top-of-the-line expensive tools. It's stuff anyone can find and use. Like supplies from a drug store or a convenience store.
It's a nice reminder to folks just starting out that you don't need "The Best" to make something cool. You just need to do it. = )
In my case, I went out and scooped a 24 pack of Crayola colored pencils. It was $2.50 but I like them and it fills both a gap in my existing set I used on the Christmas Tag and would make Kid Me jealous as these used to be Way more expensive for me 20yrs ago.
As for the pic itself... I finally landed on a Mog Squire design I like. I stopped trying to reinvent the wheel and dipped back into the old Final Fantasy Tactics Squire design. I simplified it by stripping a lot of the finicky detail bits on the belt, boots and tunic. Thankfully, it fits my anthro Moogle design better than trying to force it onto the classic pudgy mole-bat-anglerfish. = P
Overall, I like how it came out and I'm happy with the tools I used. It was a nice way to start 2022 and I hope folks dig it as much as I did drawing it. = )
