Here’s a bright incandescent blue phoenix because I’d never seen that sort of thing before, and I thought I would try something a bit more distinctive than just red and orange. An experiment in flat colors with minimal shading, sans the light.

Thank you! I feel like the lighting did turn out pretty well. The luminescence not quite so much, because it doesn't really cast any light against the rest of her, and it didn't really look right when I tried. Ah well!

Lovely color choices and lighting. And I'm totally for gas-flame phoenices now. Is that the proper plural of 'phoenix'? Phoenixen.

Thanks! Apparently, it's just "phoenixes". Though iirc there was only one phoenix at any given time, so I guess plurals weren't much of a concern. :p

That rim lighting you pulled off is stunning! I love how luminous the blue is despite the fact that most of it is in shadow.
