Chronicles of Dire Encounters

Pattarchus

Commissioned artwork. 2023.

On his wanderings through the mystical lands, the Hellhound had met a great variety of different beings. Some of these beings had been friendly to him, and to some others the Hellhound had not always been friendly. But this time he had something special in mind. And so his route had led him to the bustling port city of Stoaskovo along the Eastern Sea.

For some time, he had planned to reunite with an old acquaintance there after a long time. After all, it was only by the sea that he had the opportunity to do so. However, not every city welcomed his kind with open arms. But the people of Stoaskovo were different. They had embraced the supernatural and the arcane, and the Hellhound felt at ease as he roamed its streets.

But this meeting was not about the Hellhound himself, despite the fact that he had three heads. He didn't make a big fuss about his demonic, undead existence. Rather, it was about the Dire Machines, an unusual group of sentient machines with needs different from those of the average visitor.

Some of the city's inhabitants were uncomfortable working near the Dire Machines, as they had the power to turn anything and everything into some sort of fuel. They could even transform large and heavy machinery into new Dire Machines. Who wanted their own car to develop a life of its own and drive away... or worse? But the people of Stoaskovo had adjusted to their unusual guests, and a unique kind of familiarity had developed over the years.

Today, after a long time, the Hellhound finally wanted to meet Dyushes again. Dyushes was a Yasen-class submarine, one of the Dire Machines, and could only be found in the seas and their harbor cities. The Hellhound made his way to the port, and as he approached, he saw Dyushes waiting for him with a few other Dire Machines.

The other Dire Machines were not what he expected, they were living planes! The first was a shy MiG 1.44. The second was a powerful SU-57, who loved to show off every time he could. And the last was a massive TU-160, with a grin as wide as his maw was able to accommodate.

As they posed for a picture to celebrate their reunion, the Hellhound couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder and excitement. He had never seen anything like these Dire Machines before. And as they got to know each other over the next few days, he realized that they were not like some other Dire Machines he had encountered before.

But this was the beginning of a new and also very different story. And it all started with a shared picture.

It's interesting to note that the transport vehicles are very similar to the one I follow under the named OwnConcorde, and he does a ton of artwork related to airplanes. So I'm not surprised you would be friends with jet fighters and a large submarine whale...

As for the story, I like it. Nice short story and straight to the point, no fillers or extras in the details.
