Halloween 2021: Patpat's Bizarre Halloween by Dianadoggo

Patrigue

It took months and months of gushing and fanboying about every little detail of that stupid meme anime, but inevitably, Jack had dug his way into me, and I gave in and watched it.

Going into it, I had a general idea of the whole thing: the shit ton of muscles, the fact that everyone is named after rock stars, the Stands (a.k.a. the oddball psychic powers everyone develops in the third arc for some contrived reason), etc. However, I wasn't expecting how much of a fun ride the whole thing would be.

I won't lie, the first arc was just okay. Of course, it was bizarre, with the mask and the vampires and whatnot, but compared to the other arcs, it was lacking. With the second chapter in the saga, however, you could really tell Araki had a better grasp with what he was doing. The characters were more fleshed out and the writing had a sense of humor that was missing from the previous arc.

And once they introduced the psychic stuff, the anime really started to live up to its name. Between super strength, super speed, disguises, predicting the future, mind control, impenetrable defense, consuming flesh, deaging, puppeteering corpses, human magnetization, invading dreams, traveling through mirrors, and stopping time, there’s nothing these stands can’t do (and all of that is just in Part 3 alone).

Each new story continued the tradition, improving upon the bizarre foundation of the last, whether it involved searching for a serial killer in suburban Japan or fighting gangsters on the streets of Italy.

And with the Part 6 anime adaptation finally coming out later this year, it only seemed fitting for Jack and I to celebrate it by dressing up as our favorite JoJos. (Actually, we both consider our favorites a tie between Joseph and Giorno, but he rocks the tanktop better than I do.)

Hey there, everyone! Happy Halloween!

To celebrate, Jack and I went as Joseph Joestar and Giorno Giovanna. And for our costumes we went to Dianadoggo. We’ve been friends for more than two years now and I realized that it’s about damn time that I commissioned her. Wondering how Perci and Andrew are celebrating? Don’t worry, their Halloween photo is going to be uploaded shortly.
