Lunar Octopus by Paladin-Ciel (critique requested)

Lunar Octopus (critique requested)

Paladin-Ciel

To peer into the endless void of the Lunar Octopi's chaotic visage is akin to leaping headlong into the abyssal plane of death. A purposely forgotten remnant of an age where the lust for knowledge and power override all moral reason.

Using it's all seeing gaze the lunar Octopus seeks out geist traversing the twisted currents of aether in the depths of space; those dark flows that span the distance between Terra's damaged atmosphere to the lifeless surface of its twin moons.

Though normally bound to the surface of Terra's white moon the Lunar Octopus can travel to the planet's surface, but only during the super rare event known as "Duel Eclipse". A horrific period where both moons perfectly align in orbit.

The "Dread Night" as it has come to be called, seems to have some otherworldly ability to empower the forces of darkness for an entire 24 hour period. During this time the Lunar Octopus is free to gorge itself on its favorite food, that being the spectral energies of the dead. While to some it might seem like a blessing to be rid of so many ghosts; the Lunar Octopus standing over 80 stories tall, is more than capable of ravaging whole swaths of countryside in mere seconds.

Very little is known about the mental capacity of the Lunar Octopus, those few who have survived their presence die after years raving mad in some twisted asylum, usually from self inflicted wounds. Their ravings often mention a great flash of light that turns mountains to craters and cities to glass. They claim till their dyeing breath that they can still hear the beast speaking to them in their enfeebled minds, but to what end?

No clues concerning the Lunar Octopi's original purpose remain. As far as any can tell it is merely an insane bio weapon from before the fall. To some they suspect it is a guardian, a gatekeeper to some fantastical form of knowledge and power only hinted at in necromantic texts, if only they had the capacity to tap into the fathomous depths of the creature's indomitable mind.
