Foxaroo at Thirlmere photo #16

(Photos #14 & #15 didn't make the cut)

Myself in Partial fursuit, taken at the New South Wales Rail Transport Museum at Thirlmere.

Here we see the Alco RSC-3, designated the 40 class here. The RTM must be proud of this restored locomotive because I doubt it ever looked so good at any point in its working life. We're not even looking at the front of the locomotive either; I'm standing off to the side of the iron horse's rump here.
While it's been restored to sublime presentation, there's one thing I dislike about this class, and one about this particular locomotive specifically. The class had an A1A-A1A wheel arrangement which was not good because it lead to traction problems when the powered wheels wore down and the middle wheels didn't. The beef I have with 4001 is that she received an organ transplant from a scrapped 44 class - sacrilege!

Wonder if it smokes like a good old US Alco RS, those things where some nice locos, especially in the northeast.
