Myself in Partial fursuit, taken at the New South Wales Rail Transport Museum at Thirlmere.

NOW we're getting into the good stuff! :) The last word in steam for New South Wales; the mighty Beyer-Garratt articulated steam engine, designated the 60 Class for New South Wales Railways. A highly unusual locomotive, not widely used in either Europe or the USA, this machine is a steampunk's dream in real life. Whereas a normal piston-driven steam locomotive has the driving wheels directly below the boiler this incredible vehicle has the cab suspended between the tender and a large water tank up front with sets of driving wheels under both that tank and the tender. There's numerous advantages. Lower axle load due to the weight being distributed evenly across the length of this considerable locomotive, higher tractive performance, and it's more stable around corners due to the articulation.
This locomotive class was a darling of New South Wales, because like all railways here they admired a locomotive that could run more safely on cheap, sub-standard, poorly-maintained track!
