A commission for Djpirtu. He wanted me to do an image of his character along with a story to go with it. Freedom of topic.

“ What makes me physically stand out? Every day I look at myself in the mirror. My blue eyes scan every inch of my body, studying every black and white strand of fur I could find. I find no other colors or unique markings on my body. I have nothing but black and white fur: a monochrome feline. I don’t see that many furs with only a two-color palette like mine. Everyone always seems to have a rainbow theme or sparkling bright color fur patterns on their body, making them stand out from the rest like a firefly amongst beetles. The more colors you display on your fur, the more attention you will get. It’s like neon lights displaying an “all out sale/rave/attraction” for something and you can’t help but look at the pretty bright lights. For me, for my fur color choice, no one really notices me. I blend in rather well because my fur color doesn’t offer that much “flash” like everyone else.

“ I’ve heard that if your fur color is mostly black and white like mine, one can look at you as a “dark and mysterious” furry. Having a pure black or white furry body makes your eyes stand out. They pay more attention to your eyes than anything else on your furry body. My eyes are blue, a light blue. Whenever I look at myself in the mirror, my eyes are the only feature that stands out from the rest of my body. I guess that is a plus. Furs pay more attention to you if your eyes stand out from everything else on you. Eyes are very important on anyone. They can tell a lot about you - a window into your soul. What you see when you look deep into my blue eyes?

“ As for the mysterious bit, I kind of like that idea. I like to be mysterious. It’s like being a super hero! Do you know if I’m a good guy or a pain in the ass? Would I pet your puppy, or throw it under a tractor? Would I save the damsel in distress, or be the one to hold her hostage? You get the idea. Others tend to look at black and white furs as “mysterious” and “unknowing” furs. Anything black or white together has a physiological feel of “dark and mysterious”, so if your fur color consists of only those two colors, consider yourself a “mysterious” fur. Whenever that idea comes into my head, I think of The Crow. What did he dress up in? White face pain and black clothing. At first glance, he seems like a very dangerous person. When you get to know him, he is a kitty cat begging for a ball of yarn. But when you look at me, do you know if I really want a ball of yarn, or just to kick you in the nuts? Your monochrome fur color masks who you really are inside, making you a hard to read fur, which means you can be as much of a mysterious bastard as you want to be. So if you want to be mysterious and keep people guessing who you really are, more bonus to you if you have a two-toned furry body.

“ I like my black and white fur color. I like having very simple black and white fur markings. A lot of people do. They want simplicity. I’m comfortable about the blending in part as well as being looked at as a “mysterious” fur. I think its kind of cool. Plus if you are colorblind, you will have no trouble knowing what my fur colors are. And whats cool is that you can see what parts of your dirty without any distracting multi-colored marking on her fur. I rather be simple than a rainbow painted, neon stripes and spots galore colored fur. There is too much distraction to the eyes and too much to look at. You lose yourself with all the flare and glitter to the point where that fur is just a walking color-changing light bulb with a tail. A plus is that people look at my black and white fur as a connection to the Yin-Yang. That is also very cool. It matches with my mysterious and unknowing personality.

“ All in all, be proud of the fur colors you have. Thats all I can really say. Everyone has unique fur patterns and pallets that makes them stand out from others. It makes you UNIQUE. Its part of who you are. Most times their fur color and patterns help define who they are. A simple spot to an elaborate design of any color and shape on your body can tell a lot about you. Never be ashamed or down if you don't have that many fur colors. Sometimes having simple colors tells more about you than a large cluster-fuck of paint stains.“
