I should have been working on commissions, but today, I decided to take a personal day off to draw out these comics. This is just a rant and "vent art".
Sometimes, it does feel like that, both online and at conventions/in person. I have seen a lot of furry artists who draws amazing illustrations, both simple and complex, but yet they don't get that many favs, comments or views compared to illustrations and sketches that depict sexual situation or graphic pinups.
This even goes into commissions: MOST people will pay a three or four digit figure for a porn image, but wont spend the same amount for something that is not adult in material.
It is true that porn sells, no matter what fandom you are in, and there are artists out there who uses that and bring in their customers. But there are other artists out there who do not wish to be labeled as a porn artist and/or don't wish to draw porn for profit. Instead they try their best to have their work stick out in hope that their art will shine brighter than the porn image next to it.
This is just me ranting. You are free to "draw up" your own conclusion, "SFW or not." Get it? <_<

I think the problem is with people vehemently refusing to acknowledge or even understand that Furry is no more than a fetish, the 'clean' part being mostly filler to it. Just compare the output of porn compared to non-porn here, at FA, at DeviantArt, and everywhere else.
A fetish need not be naughty in nature, though. It can be expressed in clean ways when that brings enjoyment to the artist and audience. There's so much porn because that's when the fetish is expressed with the influence of hormones and gonads.
It really depends on the lifestyle each person in the furry community lives. A lot are there simply because there are some really weird fetishes that are accepted in the fandom.
However, there are some of us, myself included, that have the mature/adult filters on all the time (and I wish I could filter more, because somethings I do not like still come through that are technically "general audience."). I do not draw adult content, either.
There's nothing wrong with being a strictly clean artist, the problem is when you start complaining about most only being interested in porn.
It's like rolling in the mud and then complaining that you're all covered it; "There should't be any mid where I roll" isn't a valid complaint, and it's not its fault you decided to roll in it.
