Count The Mice

OddOly

Something I drew for work.

Edit: I am considering stopping uploading these illustrations because while I like how they turn out I am tired of watchers never saying anything about art and instead trying to solve puzzles aimed at 8-12 year old children. Counted them? Good. Don't tell me how many there are.

You know, I have the same problem on other art sites so I was waiting if the first comment on this picture would be not something about the art but just a number.

Ooh, that's adorable! I bet you work as an illustrator?
I think I can count 20 mices! (with out counting the computer mouse!)

Yup, I do, thanks! :) Man, you're one of the few people who actually said something about the picture instead of shouting a number at me... *points at updated description*

Haha, did I? XD I usually don't like leaving meaningless comments
and I was curious, because I didn't meet a lot of people who are currently working as professional artists, most people I know on internet are just doing it for the fun.

Sometimes I start wondering if I'd be happier if I only did it for fun, but this is more or less what I wanted. I'd like my situation to be more stable (in a good way) but not a lot of people have it these days in any field...

ain't that true, I graduated 6 months ago and I still got no job DX... So i'm doing a short movie with my gf to keep me going :\ (but i'm not paid.. ARGH!)

Yeah, I work on my own projects the entire time I'm not doing paid work, I guess the key is to keep going and keep trying? Something will come up if you keep looking and working on your skills!

It'd be really funny if you put a camo'd one in there somewhere, like a ninja mouse or something. It's an interesting, round-ish perspective you've got going on here. Was there any particular intention or inspiration to draw it like this?

I'm not sure, I just find that roundish perspective works better for illustrations and I do it a lot (basically all the time unless I have some reason not to do it). It's actually closer to how our eyes see it, it's just everyone knows lines are straight and learns about linear perspective in school so it's hard to notice we actually see things slightly more curvy.

Fair enough, I'm just... very much not used to seeing it in the works I see here, though now that I've noticed it I can look back through your work and pick this aspect out. At the very least I learned something interesting from your sharing this! It's a warm and inviting piece, and I'm sure children would be delighted with it.

Aw, thank you! :) Someone explained this perspective thing to me at the university at some point (and I heard it mentioned before in art history) but it's not really well-known, dunno why.
