I started working on this drawing in October 2012. Since then I've doodled on it a bit, but most of the time it collected dust in my art folder.
The creature in the drawing has received the nickname, The Burning Fiend. TBF is sort of a myth in my story, Demon Whisperers, and he will appear in the comic itself. He was born through this drawing, and it will be interesting to work with him in the future.
The whole inspiration to this creature and drawing came from the melody "Death of Me", made by mnrART on DeviantArt. He used the melody in this game: http://fav.me/d3fml7b

A thematic in this work reminds me of the "Game Over" artwork for the old Amiga game called "Shadow of the Beast 2". This art: wpid-ShadowOfTheBeast2_GameOver-2012-08-24-20-52.gif (It's also accompanied by a music score: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGf5xpaRIx8 ).
It gives me the same feeling when I look at it. A partially decomposed individual crouched low on their knees, staring off into the distance as their life gradually comes to an end. A scene carrying some emotional weight with it, where the inevitable has come, and it can only be endured...
Really inspiring! :D It makes me think of solemnity, like in a scene where a character braves through something where they can only be all alone in what they feel. Very touching indeed. :)
