Kero is a fox of science. He lives in a cottage in the middle of a forest with a navy-furred fox named Sky, who--despite his laid-back demeanor--possesses some telekinetic powers. Kero's plots for world domination are always kept in check by his blue counterpart, but as a stubborn fellow, he's never given up. One day, in the laboratory he'd established in the basement of the small house, Kero was hard at work developing a serum that could be used to minimize the largest of objects--living or non-living. As sinister as he could be, he imagined the prospect of applying it evenly to something as large as a building in order to make the entire structure handheld. This way, he could capture monuments and perhaps important government buildings, holding them for ransom; of course, the prospect of shrinking living beings was possible as well, offering demands in exchange for a captive's safety and size. Amid Kero's ambitious daydreaming, he was losing focus on important aspects of his procedure. Holding a test tube in each hand, he had to be careful not to cause a volatile reaction. An adequate balance would be necessary. However, as he carefully poured, he suddenly caught sight of a shaking shelf above his desk. Raising his elbow to support the weak shelf, he saved a series of books from falling... at the cost of botching his experiment: the saving movement also left the one test-tube at an angle. This gratuitous addition of one chemical to the other brought about the result he tried to avoid; an explosion of pink vapor engulfed the fox. Unfortunately for him, the goggles did nothing.

Staggering back, out of his chair, he stood up and moved away from his desk. The bookshelf collapsed onto his desk, but Kero was hardly concerned. Panicked, he looked around to ensure nothing had changed. With a pause for caution, the fox felt his body tremble as everything around him seemed to rise up. Cut from a normal 5' 6" to a small 2' 3", the poisoned fox had to do something...! Careful not to exert himself at his odd size, he took a deep breath and slowly walked to the stairs. As he approached the staircase, he felt that involuntary sensation make his body quiver before minimizing again. Only a mere six inches, he clambered up the stairs. Knowing that his partner was just up the stairs in the living room, he might have been able to reach him with a yell, but the immature fox felt the desperation unbecoming of a future ruler of the world, so he decided to press on without a word. Matters only escalated as he arrived at the top of the stairs with another quiver. Reduced to a tiny two and a half inches, he could see Sky sitting on the couch across the expansive room, watching TV. With time being of the essence, he charged toward the navy fox, traversing that vast hardwood plane. A couple minor sensations rocked Kero, causing a stumble here and there, but he eventually arrived at one of the navy fox's planted paws, nestled in a pair of flip-flops. Sky was thoroughly distracted with the television program he had on the TV, so there was no way he'd notice his insignificant roommate at his paws. The aspiring future emperor of the world now stood smaller than a half-inch tall at this point, but now that he'd made it to Sky, he regained some of his confidence. Boldly jumping up, he grabbed onto the edge of the footwear. As he pulled himself up to stand beside a navy-furred toe, he felt the most serious tremor yet, like growing pains all over, in the space of a couple seconds instead of a few hours. Kero groaned from the sudden ache but shook it off rather quickly. "So, uh, can I... ask you... somethin'...?" He wanted to nonchalantly bring up his predicament to his partner, but as he looked up, he realized the latest surge of the serum's power cut him down to a negligible size. He now stood on the surface of the navy fox's flip-flop, more like a curvy landscape than an article of casual footwear. Sky's four navy-furred, black-padded digits stood on their own, each a living mountain in his path. At this point, getting close to a mighty toe might result in the crimson vulpine simply being swept underneath a gargantuan digit without even being acknowledged. In fact, an idle tap of the titanic paw caused a earthshaking rumble, knocking Kero off his feet. What options did the little guy have?
