‘‘…But you are not an Ahuizotal yet!”

One more returnee before I get to some new characters. With all the star wars hype going round, I’ve found it really hard over the last few weeks to resist working on my own Vader-ish villain, Malik. Surprisingly, this was one of the easiest pictures I’ve worked on lately. The pose took a lot of prep time to get down, mainly on account of wanting to have both weapons shown off in a decent way, but the actual details, shading etc, I kinda flew through them.

Anybody here watched the extras section that comes with god of war? I feel like it mirrors something that’s an evolution with this character, since their hardest time was apparently making Kratos look “greek enough”. They weren’t even sure if they knew what that term meant half the time. Very similar here. This guys been on a steady progression towards “Cyber Spartan” for a long time, and I could just be jumping the gun here, but I think we’ve arrived.

Also, you might notice I broke something I consider a golden rule here, and gave him a cape. It looks awesome: that’s really my only explanation. Naturally I’ll have to have it come off during a fight to not break the rule, but at all other times a full and flowing cape definitely looks superior to that ditty little sash the old design had.
