… No matter where life takes us.

This is a collaborative picture between me and Norv. I did the line art a while back and is currently part of that huge backlog I want to upload at some point. Norv colored it up and we decided to upload it at about the same time.

This is indeed a picture of our ‘sonas, Med and Kin. Something we do fairly often, and more so lately, is look at the world around us; who we are and the path we took. During these talks, we realized that we’ve grown, and therefore changed, quite a lot in the time that we’ve known each other. Kinaru was designed just before we started dating. Med-Night’s last alteration was around the same time, though she was originally created a very very long time ago. In much the same way that we’re no longer the same people we were we decided that it was time to have our fursonas grow as well. And what better day to make that official than our 5 year anniversary.

For Med, her pup side is now the dominate role. The wolf part is still a part of her and will always be. The wolf’s inner strength and beauty will always be a part of who she, and I, am. However over time I’ve come to embrace myself more. I’m playful, fun loving, and well, much more akin to the pup side. I’m slowly losing many of the insecurities that held me back before. So Med now reflects that with a shift to a more lively coloration. Her eyes also changed, partly because it matched up well with the browns and partly because Norv said that he sees me with that color. It is one of my favorites. Her nose is pink now because, well, it’s just dang cute. XD

Kin has changed the most though. Before, Norv was very, well, eccentric. Energetic, bouncy, joyful, and a bit over the top. While we were dating, he was fun but a bit of a handful. This was reflected with Kin’s vibrant coloration. Over time, Norv’s really became more comfortable in his skin and who he is. He’s much calmer now and more introverted. Overall he’s a bit more mature and thoughtful. Kinaru’s coloration changed to reflect that as well. He’s now more of a silver fox than a weirdly colored cross fox. More greys and blacks. The face pattern is the same, which is a key feature of Kin, though for aesthetics it connects with the belly fur now. He’s ears are also black on the backside for aesthetics. His eyes are green, which he says fits him better. He still has his key cross marking. It’s in a bright blue to reflect the fact that he’s still the cheerful guy he was before; just that it’s a bit more subtle. His wedding collar design also changed to a bracelet. The idea of a loose collar (because he was more wild than the pet-like Med) always bugged him a bit because of false implications that could have. So having it as a more natural bracelet was decided on as an alternative.

I’ll admit, it was kinda weird to see the change. I was a bit resistant at first. But now that I’ve looked at it and thought about it for a few days, I think both Kin and Med’s changes fit them and us very well. I think it was appropriate for them to be able to grow as we have. The old versions of our ‘sonas is still canon, just that it reflects who we were while the new versions are who we are and will be.
