It's his young Eastern Screech Owl character, Nightshade! You'll also notice he has bobcat ears, feet and a tail. I love how his kitty paws came out! For this piece, I wanted to capture the character's youth... his curiosity, eagerness and wide-eyed wondering. Screech Owls have such expressive faces, too, so I tried to incorporate that as well. :) When he was getting worked on, I half expected him to open his wings up and begin bobbing his head at me, in typical owl fashion.

I used faux fur, Apoxie Sculpt, wire, fleece, hot glue, thread, glass, steel weights, Liquitex acrylics, matte and high gloss varnish and several types of Sculpey.

PS: My camera went walking off somewhere... so I had to use my phone's camera... which isn't that great. :c
