OOAK Art Doll - Confetti Moose

nightmute

Confetti moose (alces alces confettius) are a very small subspecies of a typical North American moose. Their coat is mostly white, but there are tiny, multi colored spots all over their bodies. Their antlers, while used for battling during the rut, are also very brightly colored. It's not clear if they use the bright colors for attracting mates or communicating. Confetti moose spend much of their time around neon lights (in cities, no less) or in parks and gardens but blend in perfectly and are hardly ever seen at all. They eat mostly roses and shrubs, but have developed a sweet tooth for ice cream and donuts.

I have been thinking about this guy for a long time, ever since I saw this faux fur on sale. It's so shiney! It has also been a very long time since I did an art doll with antlers so... here we go! As usual, I used Sculpey III and Super Sculpey and painted it with Liquitex acrylics for the head, antlers and hooves. The sculpted parts are very well reinforced with thicker steel wire and tin foil. Hooves were dusted with Pearl EX prior to baking and then I added more glitter and many coats of varnish. He stands very well on 4 legs, but gets a little shakey on 3... but he sits ok (but looks sort of unnatural lol). He is very flexible thanks to his armature--I use two twisted thicker-gauge steel wires. The only part you can't adjust is his tail.
