I’ve oft felt an affinity for Bambi, being named such many times over the years (most recently for not being able to stand up in the heatwave). The notion of butch Bambi came up in recent conversation and I couldn’t not run with it 💖

I remember, when I was old enough, reading the original novel that "101 Dalmatians" was based on...........it's very different, as Perdita isn't Pongo's mate/wife in the books. It's a dog aptly named "Missus" (how British!), but when the puppies were born they were too much for her to take care of, so the humans found a foster Dalmatian (liver-spotted) named Perdita, to help feed all the puppies. A much more realistic take, to be honest. :)

It was a really good book--the author's sequel (The Starlight Barking) was a little "out there", but the first book was very good! :D Thanks to Disney, you will always find the first book in print, but the second book is extremely hard to acquire! It's like the book "Bambi" by Felix Salten as well.........there's a sequel, "Bambi's Children"--which I actually like better than the first book. But the second book is very hard to find. :)
