Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nambroth

Another portrait of a Maned Wolf. These often misunderstood animals are not wolves, and aren't even closely related to any other existing canine species. This species is listed as vulnerable (hence the play of words in the title) and is increasingly uncommon in the wild.

I had some 23k gold leaf left over from a project years ago, and applied it onto this painting, so it is genuine gold! It looks rather flat on this scan but it is lovely in person.

5" x 7" Acrylic on board.

    Nature's first green is gold
    Her hardest hue to hold.
    Her early leaf's a flower;
    But only so an hour.
    Then leaf subsides to leaf.
    So Eden sank to grief,
    So dawn goes down to day.
    Nothing gold can stay.
    -Robert Frost
