Benjamin had been friends with Alice since elementary school. Indeed, if her parents had a better heritage, Ben's parents might consider encouraging the two to grow closer. As is, though, he is promised to Madison Jackson. He is to inherit his father's business, and so intends to follow his father's footsteps from the prep academy to Harvard.
