This was Nico and Pancho's first trip into space. It would be a first for just about any earth creature.

"How fast can this airplane go?" Nico asked.

"To start with, it's not an airplane", Kassa replyed. "It's an interstellar cruiser. There is a difference".

"It's an airospace vehicle. Airplanes, as you know them, won't fly out this far", Jemu added.

"Dad had it up to warp 27,000 on our way here", said Kassa.

"Warped what?", Pancho asked as Kassa and his family laughed.

"Warp is the speed of light", Kassa explained to the two Earth guests. "We traveled 27,000 times faster than that. And light...well, if it was able to curve, can go around your world more than 7 times in one of the seconds you measure time by. That should give you an idea how fast this cruiser can go".

"The ability is actually changing velosity", said Jemu. "This cruiser can go from staying still in relation to a nearby terrestrial object, to leaving it at warp 27,000 in less than one of your Earth hours. If you kept an object accelerating in space indefinatly, the speed it would reach would be indefinate. Acceleration and deceleration determines how far in space you can go."

"Uhh, what?" asked Pancho.

"I never even caught all of that", said Nico.

What Jemu explained went over Nico and Pancho's heads, as their minds can't comprehend what their newfound friends deal with every day.

Jemu sensed Nico and Pancho's lack of understanding, then simply said, "We can be back home on Planet Niyo in about three of your Earth hours".

"Where's that?", Pancho asked.

"Seventh planet from Star Sirrius", said Jemu. "It's not even in your star system.

"I didn't know we had a star system", said Pancho as Kassa's family had another laugh.

Jemu's wife, Samia, explained, as she finished laughing, "As long as you live on a planet with a sun to give it light and warmpth, that's a star system". Then she went on to tell them, "We apologise for laughing at you. It just seems so funny to us when we hear things said by beings who have no concept of what our species consider so elementry".
