Gjalp and Greip, the Defenders of Ginnungagap, the Stalwarts of Fårbaute, or the Bastions of the Eitr. These two are known by many names, for that is proper when dealing with Jotun war heroes, don't you know? Stoic Gjalp and wise Greip... what sacrifices they made for the prosperity of this pile of molten rock. Cost'em three eyes divided by the two of'em, it did.

According to folklore in Åsgard, the siamese twin Jotuns Gjalp and Greip were one of the Primordial Jotuns who aided Angrboda and her warrior-kinsmen in casting the bestial Fårbaute into the dark, cold depths of the Ginnungagap once her voracious appetite for violence and carnage upset the Balance. Gjalp's bravery and Greip's wisdom proved instrumental as the brothers wove spells and swung their rocky club at their demonic foe, and even in so doing they would suffer deep injuries from their encounter with the Gleipnir-bound fury. Sharing a single eye between them, Gjalp and Greip were given the arduous yet important task of watching over the Ginnungagap, making sure that Fårbaute would not rise to the surface again.
