Fountain of Hathor by Misty Wolf

Fountain of Hathor

Misty Wolf

  1. Close up, just before the glaze fire. Several small details on this piece broke during the bisque fire. Their was a faulty part in the kiln which caused the temperature to go unregulated. Since the kiln heated too quickly, several works shattered, including my large torii piece and pieces of this figure.

  2. I came in to check on my piece and found that some one had purposely smeared her eye make up on both eyes (the pigment is in a workable chalky form prior to be fired, so its easy to smudge). I had to very delicately scrape the clear glaze on her cheeks to remove the smeared pigment.

  3. One of the horns had broke off as explained in 1, here I am holding the horn in place for a more complete idea of the piece. Hathor is a cow form goddess of love beauty pleasure and womanhood and it is said that the Nile river flows from her, there for I have this piece made so that water will flow out of her hands once the fountain is rigged up.

  4. Testing the fountain. After she has been thru the glaze fire she is water proof. I have run small tubing inside her body along with a small fish tank pump inside the hollow of her body allowing the fountain to function.

I hope you can repair her! The fountain looks really beautiful even after the damage.
