Wow, wow, wow, it’s been years since the last time I actually finished and posted a semi realistic work, last time I did was in 2020 (This picture), I have to say that I really missed doing this kind of coloring, it takes a while to be done but it’s so worth it in the end, almost satisfying xD

This picture is a remake of this and this pic since this pic has a combination of both I can’t say it’s only a remake of the newer one.

I’ve always loved drawing Ariel, her color palette and especially her hair are super fun to work with, also her expressivity is so unique, she’s so charming! x3 💖💖

Adding Flounder was a must of course, really enjoyed drawing him again! ^w^ ✨✨

As for the background, I decided to add the same colors used in the movie covers, in other words, I wanted to make a very colorful scene, just like the movie, it was very fun though x3

As you can see the 2015 pic was leaning more towards realism than this one, as years passed, I came up with the conclusion that a semi realistic drawing style for both flat shaded and semi realism coloring was the best option for me a decision I’m glad I made in time x3

Back in the day I used to struggle with both the coloring style I was using and the hardware and software I had, it was a challenge to make it look as good as possible and thus, even though it was already a remake, I started sketching other pics shortly after I posted the 2015 pic, so yeah, I had a few sketches, a few ideas before sticking to this one in 2022, I didn’t work on it right away only recently and really enjoyed the whole process x3

I’ve learned to appreciate The Little Mermaid more with the years, the colors, the soundtrack, the characters and their designs, everything is made to be epic, it marked the beginning of an era, a great era of Disney movies.

That said, it’s sad they didn’t include this scene with Ariel and Triton speaking, it would’ve been the perfect closure for both character arcs and would’ve made the ending even more epic and emotional.
