The Himalayan Monal is a pheasant that lives in Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan. They are the national bird of Nepal, but are known as the Danfe there. They were once, and sometimes are still, threatened due to poaching, as their feathers were used a symbol status on hats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan and in Himachal Pradesh region in India.
