The only magpie outside the Iberian Pennisula, the Eurasian Magpie is considered to be one of the most intelligent animals on earth. The reason for this is it’s nidopallium, a section of the avian brain that is responsible for higher cognitive tasks, is equivalent to that of human’s own pallium. They are traditionally associated with many superstitions, but most count them either a omen of ill fate or as a thief, as they are wont to steal shiny objects.
