Tiath's Recusant Comparison by Mdroid

Tiath's Recusant Comparison

Mdroid

When Tiath joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems, his naval expertise earned him an admiralty over a few minor theaters during the war. He was granted a new Recusant Light Destroyer as a command ship, but immediately started a 7 million credit refit on the cruiser, adding a reinforced prow similar to Providence Carriers, additional plating, auxiliary communication arrays, stronger shields, and a new paint scheme. Tiath favored a defensively strong ship surrounded by his fleet, which came in handy as the alterred prow forced the removal of the ventral heavy turbolaser cannon. The other weapons remained intact, but shields were often given higher priority in regards to power direction. Tiath wanted his ship to look battered with scoring and impacts when in fact it was quite resilient with its extra plating, which also allowed him to add 16 droid fighters to the standard Recusant complement of 240. His custom paint scheme played on the fact that the new prow resembled his beak and added avian crests and wings across the hull, which also helped him come up with the name "Kreehawk", based on the vicious predatory birds native to Cato Neimoidia.

Anyway, as you can see, I used the base model reference to be found on the Recusant-class light destroyers page on Wookieepedia found here: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Recusant-class_light_destroyer , and did a little editing to make the ship more unique and interesting for my character. Also tweaked a few of the specs from the page accordingly. If I end up writing any vignettes about Tiath set during the Clone Wars, this ship is likely to feature. Also, I'm working on a classic style portrait of him dressed as an officer of the Separatist Navy.

Nice design! I read recently a few of the CIS ship designs were taken from old Trilogy ships that went unused in the original movies. I think these Recusant-class destroyers started out as a Mon Calamari medium frigate.

I'm glad you like it ^^ And yep, they appeared in expanded universe stuff before the prequels, so they retconned them into ships originally used by the CIS that had to be modified for organic crews. The Mon Calamari did design the ship, but the plans were stolen by the Quarren.

Love Mon Calamari ship designs :D They seem so organic compared to Imperial cruisers. Even my favorite starfighter, the B-Wing, was designed by then General Ackbar.

Me too :3 There are way too many awesome designers and ships for me to pick just one, but I was always partial to the Virago Star Viper from MandalMotors, the YT-1760 from Corellian Engineering Corporation, and the Nebulon-B from Kuat Drive Yards. Heheh, seems like we have a nerd-out starting LOL

          • Link

Heeee! Always liked the Nebulon-B's. Not super familiar with the Corellian model numbers, but always a fan of their designs (Blockade Runner, Millennium Falcon, etc.) and I vaguely remember the Star Viper.

            • Link

Nebulon-B's are awesomely well-rounded ships. And CEC's YT-series can be a little confusing. Several of the different models look about the same so it can throw you off unless you look into the specs. The Star Viper is relatively obscure, only shown in two games, but they're great. Would have to be when the first one was designed by Prince Xizor to be his personal ship.

              • Link

Used to have a Micro Machine of Prince Xizor's Viper :D Along with most of the other Star Wars ships!

OwO Is it too early to say that my Star Wars love is making me love you because of your Star Wars love~? X3

I'm a bit of a Sci-Fi star ship geek, from Star Wars to Star Trek to Babylon 5 and a bunch of stuff in between :D The thing that I liked about the CIS ships, along with the Rebellion ships, were their sheer variety of design elements. No two ships looked all that similar, except maybe for the Mon Cal designs. I know a few of these designs from a book I still have, the Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels <3 And geek love is geek love, baby ;D

                    • Link

Yep, love you ^^ I have most of the Star Wars Essential Guide books. All about the sci-fi~ Star Trek isn't as big for me, but I definitely appreciate that it tackles issues that Star Wars mostly only handles in passing. Star Wars always had more awesome ships to me though, but then you tend to expect that from a space opera epic X3

I can say the same for me :3 I liked Star Trek ships for some of their design elements (my favorites being the USS Defiant and Voyager), but overall I liked Star Wars a lot more. I'm also a big fan of Transformers, especially the combiners like the Constructicons and Combaticons, as well as the Valkyries from Macross/Robotech :D
