I decided this year to go for a more painting-style picture, using various paint brushes in Krita and forgoing the normal airbrush shading and so forth. The tree in the background is a pohutukawa, a native of New Zealand that goes into full bloom abound this time of year - hence it's alternate name of "New Zealand's Christmas tree".
