Grey and White yarn tail by Matrices

Grey and White yarn tail

Matrices

This is something special that I made that I won't ever make again!
This is a hand-tied yarn tail made out of a little over 5 skeins of painstakingly hand-placed yarn.

The fur is handmade from yarn! I made this tail a little over 3 years ago. This type of tail is different from any faux fur tail made from fabric. It has a weight to it, and is ultra flexible, as a result it is VERY waggy and has the most realistic movement that any style of tail short of an actual taxidermy tail can offer. It has a braided "spine" and each fur bundle is knotted and sewn to it. This offers wondrous flexibility.

Here are two quick videos of the movement:

Maintenance is similar to a faux fur tail. It does require combing, because if left ungroomed its looks will not have as much of an impact. If any fibers need re-straightening you can use a hair flat iron to smooth them back to their original sheen.

This was made of two tones of grey made to have a lighter underside and it is tipped in white. The grey yarns carefully selected on this project match fairly and compliment well to the "luxury shag" style of faux fur.
