In late 2019, while I was drawing characters from some of my other alien races, I decided to take a shot at resurrecting another character I like, but always sorta struggled to make fit into my galaxy...

Birger here is a character design I adopted years ago, and while I like him and think he's quite unique yet still fits within my universe, I have had little idea what to do with him in terms of what his race/species is and where they come from.

Story-wise he lives on Demeter in a little cabin in the snowy mountains, and helps lost travelers find their way back to the nearby village. Despite being well-liked by the locals, and being responsible for at least a dozen rescues of lost travelers, Birger is considered something of a myth or legend by most, as he's rarely seen and only ventures into the village on very rare occasions very early in the morning or late in the evening to purchase food and supplies.

In the past I've mostly just drawn him with a vest and shirt on his upper torso, leaving his lower half naked as his warm, soft fur is more than adequate for protecting him from the colder temperatures, but this time I decided to expand his outfit a bit, giving him a poncho-like covering for his lower half, and some boots to keep his paws safe and warm.

Recently I decided that, since I've done this with numerous other designs that don't really fit anywhere else, he's probably a member of an alien race as well. His people come from a world called Ventranna, a cold, mountainous world covered in ice and snow, with the tropical and equatorial regions of the planet hosting what Earthlings might recognize as tundras and taigas, with sparse vegetation.

Also, as he is centaur-like in body configuration, I have decided that in his race the heart and lungs are in the upper torso, while the digestive and excretory system (and reproductive system, of course) are in the lower portion.
