Description from the original submission page:

August 10th marks the anniversary of my first drawing of Manhaar, making it his official birthday.
My first drawing of him was this sort of "paws up" pose, and it's a pose that has sort of become his hallmark. It just invites interaction, be it wanting to pick him up, play peek-a-boo, or simply hold his little paws. Of course, it only seemed fitting to draw him in his "trademark" pose to commemorate his birthday.
(That, and to be honest, I tried a couple of other poses but simply did not like how they turned out.)

When I first drew him, he was simply referred to as "Spots and Stripes Baby" and was meant as a sort of one-off. I actually considered selling him as an adoptable or something but the response to him was so overwhelmingly positive that I decided to keep him around and develop him as a character for myself. Since then, he's become one of my more popular characters.
