REVECROIR - Common Leupai

Leupstripes

Leupai are a kingdom of crystal-based "mimic" lifeforms, many of which have mutagenically evolved from sapient animals.
Native to the Bele-Miriet galaxy, they have developed sufficient technology and psionic ability to enable contact with and travel between planes and universes.

These are some of the more common leupai species, particularly ones I've actually mentioned or introduced publically so far. I'm "dooming" myself to making another of these in the future, but I don't mind too much. :)

Leupaks such as Hypothesi Leupaks, calamity leupaks, and erinyi are the first types of leupai to have been created, providing the basis for the kingdom name. All leupaks are asexual parasites which lay eggs in hosts with their prehensile, claw-tipped hollow tongues. They possess a mutagenic venom typically capable of transforming victims into new leupaks.

Hypothesi Leupaks are decendants of leupaks who originated on planet Valenth. Innately tied to consciousness and psychic phenomena, each hypothesi leupak's appearance is derived in some way from thought patterns, imagination, or concepts related to its host. Although they draw physical traits at random from their leupak parent and host, the expression of such traits is near-impossible to anticipate; only in extremely rare cases are two quaggies alike, even from the same clutch.
Hypothesi leupaks are the only species which possess facets, third-eye structures that serve as a link to the world of dreams. This organ gives the leupaks their psionic abilities, but kills them outright if broken.

Calamity Leupaks and Erinyi hail from the realm of Styx, a post-apocalyptic plane of existence with a deadly sun. They are immune to its effects thanks to the blood of Phoenix, who hatched the first quaggies and chicks inside his own body.

Calamities are a species of leupak that appear in nine subspecies-- one for each color of the rainbow, plus white and black; ichor (green), mazarine (blue), cobalt (indigo), livid (violet), bloodshot (red), acid (orange), sulfur (yellow), umber (black), and milky (white), each with its own unique body configuration and abilities. They have a direct mental link both with Phoenix and all other calamities at all times; despite their violent and bestial behavior, they are both sapient and extremely intelligent.
Calamities are the least variable of all leupaks, differing only in size and hue in most cases. Subspecies tend to fall within a given color range, but anomalies such as melanism and albinism do happen on rare occasion.

Erinyi are vicious, birdlike leupaks which swarm in great flocks over ruined cities and settlements. They ignore other leupai, but mercilessly attack any other intelligent creature they catch sight of, carrying them up to rooftops or high ledges to devour them alive. Erinyi never fight amongst themselves, seemingly content to take out their inexplicable fury on other species.
Although typical erinyi have beaks, a pair of wings and hind feet, mutations with reptilian or humanoid faces, arms, or even four legs are not uncommon. Their plumage comes in an infinite variety of colors and patterns, and their horns may appear in any shape.

Daedlans are sterile, laboratory-made Hypothesi leupak hybrids, typically crosses between leupaks and non-leupai humanoids such as humans or fae. They have functional tongueclaws, but no venom or egg sacs of their own.
Colloquially called "nests", their humanoid genes and leupak skin make them especially suitable for hosting and hatching leupak eggs with minimal pain or damage.
Daedlans come in several subspecies, including bird-winged iicarn, horned royal daedlans, and bat-winged helenes.

Esque are amphibious, salamander-like leupai that came into being when Arches (formerly a royal daedlan) spontaneously mutated as a result of their extreme anger and frustration. Unique among leupai, they evolved specifically to catch and feed upon leupaks, with huge, wide mouths full of long teeth, and a special venom that sickens leupaks and neutralizes their naturally rubbery skin.
Esque also have retractile claws on their forepaws, giving them extra traction outside of the water as well as an edge in combat.
Despite their formidability, they are quiet and relatively docile, preferring to remain underwater in their swamps and largely keeping to themselves.

Very interesting species! I like the concept you have here, it's quite original!

I had a feeling iicarn were somehow related to leupak in one way or another! (I don't know if it was stated anywhere else or not tho bhjgdf) This is really neat, I love all the info! The image is really nice too, of course. vuv

Yup! :D I think Nef might've explained it in detail in one chapter, but I don't remember exactly which it was.
And thank you! I really need to do more of this sort of thing!
