Hard at work?

LavaBat

Many jobs have been automatized over the centuries on Lantrei, and machines could do a lot more jobs than they are currently used for. Some jobs have remained due to social reasons. Some people prefer to speak to Humans, Animats, or Chimeras over machines. Many CEOs prefer real secretaries for example. And many governments do what they can to ensure that robots and machines don't take over all the jobs traditionally done by Humans, Animats, and Chimeras. This helps to keep class conflict to a minimum.

Special thanks goes to rubbervixen rubbervixen for designing the clock behind the Chimera secretary!

I wonder how many went absolutely nuts upon colonizing that moon. Considering the recent research that has been showing that even a minor change of the circadian rhythm like changing the day night cycle from earth standard to mars for a person can have very bad negative effects, how would a world where the night lasts 3x as long effect people..

I would not have wanted to have been one of the original colonists that's for sure!

It also showed though that it would be fixed after a single generation, the same research pointed this out with lab mice. I just find it interesting all this minor stuff that seems to derail even the best laid plans. Like living in space and how it affects the body.

Fun fact, planets with lower(no data on higher because this research was done in the microgravity of orbit) gravity would render earth organism's mostly infertile. The reason? Earth microbiology's locomotion systems are tuned for earth standard gravity. Eggs would not be able to travel properly to where they can be fertilized, and the sperm's locomotion system is not as effective.
How did they learn this? They tried to get mice to breed on the international space station.

          That is interesting!
