A Life Left Behind

LaurenRivers

Ashley sat on the floor of his new apartment, the one ironically that 'she' would've moved into a week later if fate hadn't taken a twisted turn. He'd attended his own funeral, his own body lowered in a closed casket ceremony a week ago. It'd taken his boyfriend's soul and this original body's owner with it. He'd tried to remember hsi new name, "Ashley", and feared what others would think if he tried to tell anyone that he was truly a woman in a man's body.

He had to concentrate to keep acting male. He kept wanting to brush his hand through his hair or wear something other than pants. Every time he went to the restroom he saw a ghost. His own face was that of his deceased lover. He swallowed and after a long pause picked up some items that 'she' had left the last time she had come over.

A pair of high heels that the former saluki wore were still there. Ashley remembered how it felt when 'she' wore them and sighed. They would not fit on these male hooves. She still couldn't get used to being male in general. Something about how guys acted around each other, or how his body responded to females passing by bothered him.

He sighed. At least he wasn't alone. Mikaela was in the same situation, and they had each other.
