Nerdy stuff ahead!

Kanto was not born a Silent Strider, he was actually born Fiana. Unfortunately, both of his parents are fully garou, so he was born as a Metis with a deformity, in this case, horns. A traveling Strider, Azim, stayed with their sept that night and they begged him to take Kanto with him to save him, and themselves the shame of him being a Metis. Azim took him in and raised him as a Silent Strider, teaching him all of the gifts if his pack. Kanto's parents, though, his real parents, were very pure blooded. Because Fiana's integrated with the last of the White Howler packs before they disappeared, Kanto is more White Howler than anything, which he doesn't yet know.

Being Fiana, though, he is adept at music and the arts. Being a Ragabash (a joker born under the new moon), he is also extremely quick-witted. Though he was not born with any ties to fighting, he quickly had to learn to defend himself, as most other garou saw him as an abomination because he is a Metis. So, Azim taught him to fight alongside the gifts of the Silent Strider pack.

By himself, Kanto enjoys his music more than anything else. When he was only 15, he had learned enough about woodcarving to build himself a guitar. Being a Metis, he was stuck in his Crinos form until his first shift, so any normal sized guitar would be far too small for him to play, so the one he built for himself is one and a half times the size of any regular guitar. He has to make his own strings from catgut.

He is also very intelligent. For years, because of his frankly alarming appearance, he would break into libraries at night and steal books. Because there were often alarms triggered by a broken window or lock, he often had no choice but to grab the first handful of books he could find. Because of this, he has had a relatively rounded education, which he had to teach himself, as Azim had little time to teach him.
