A Tale of the Diluvian South by Kotep

A Tale of the Diluvian South

Kotep

Contains no dirty bits. Awww.

This is one of those things that got stuck in my head and developed into something that I had to get out in order to just be done with it and think about other things. It's a surreal folk tale from the American South blended with Mesopotamian flood mythology.

For a little Kotep's Corner, I've thought it was interesting the similarities you could draw between the sorts of cultural elements that spring up along, say, the Nile and the Tigris and the Mississippi. On top of that I always enjoyed the hybridization of these very regional sorts of beliefs that come along with Christianity with other kinds of African and European thought that happened in the South, and so a part of this became a curiosity about tracing it back not just to Judaism but even further.

I did hum a melody to myself that goes along with the ending.

I like this setting, too. I may do more traditional TF stuff with this Sumerian flood-South.
