~ Shin's 12" Yin-Yang Dragon ~ by Kira Swiftpaw

~ Shin's 12" Yin-Yang Dragon ~

Kira Swiftpaw

So at long last, I've finally completed the second part of Shin's order.. a 13" Yin-Yang dragon. No, that's not a typo. I know I normally only go to 12" max for the small dragons, but I caved and added the extra inch he wanted. For those wondering, I added the length to the tail~

Also let it be said that to date, I have not invested any more time in a dragon other than when I made my very first one (which took MONTHS to figure out.. ugh..). I honestly can't tell you how many hours that is, so let's just say a lot. XD

What took so long exactly? Well, if you have to ask that, then I guess you haven't noticed the complete and totally custom scales that are on this lil one!

Shin wanted a black and white yin-yang themed chain dragon. Now, anyone familiar with ordering supplies from The Ring Lord probably already knows the what the biggest hurdle for this dragon design was.. they don't make white scales. Nope. Least they didn't, but I think they're selling some painted large sized scales now, or trying them out. It's odd.. they sell white rings, but they don't make white scales. WTF? XD

So yeah.. the whole theme idea was pretty much dead in the water, until it struck me out of the blue with what to do about that.. COLOR DEM YOURSELF! And so I did~

Now, I coulda just colored some white and alternate the back scales white and black and call it good, but nope! Too boring. Too dull. Too common. Too.. unlike Swiftpaw Studios (least in my mind anyway XD). So I took this beast to THE NEXT LEVEL! Each back scale is it's own yin-yang symbol on top, while the color on the bottom is the opposite color to the side of the body they're on~

The body itself continues the theme with half of the body being black, and half of the body being white while the belly is both (rose weave/mobius ball style). Black accent rings hold the scales in place on the white side of the body, while white accent rings hold the scales in place on the black side of the body. The tail is about as close to being half black and half white as I could get it while still keeping a neat pattern on it, which was then finished off with dual colored scales on the tail. Three of the scales have black on top and white on the bottom, while the other three are white on the top and black on the bottom. As for the 'cheeks,' there's a solid black one on the white side, and a solid white one on the black side~

In the end, some may not even care how much thought and work went into this "project" as a whole, but I will say I'm damn proud of myself, even if the work isn't super perfect. You won't find another chain dragon like this one anywhere~
