Woah, I have Facerig but where do you even start with that live2d stuff? Does it cost anything?

Hi! The Live2D plugin cost me US$4 but there might be some Aussie tax on that. It's a DLC on Steam. There's a free version of Live2D Editor 2.1 which is full of limits but for simple stuff it's probably fine.

I watched these two screencaps to get an idea of how Live2D character rigging works and how to troubleshoot it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PASV-48AhCM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylSO-m67Pjo - they're long but you can pretty much watch them at 2x speed and not miss much.

It's possible to draw your character with free software: you can draw the different layers in Krita then save it out as a Photoshop file. Live2D freaks out at Krita's PSD files and won't save them, but you can load and save it in Gimp and Live2D saves just fine. You can get Krita and Gimp for free from http://www.krita.org/ and https://www.gimp.org/ respectively.

The workflow for getting your exported Live2D .moc file into FaceRig is well explained here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zms7H04c83M - basically you just copy it to the right place and reload FaceRig and you're gold.

The restrictions of 2D annoyed me though so I'm going to try this next: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=523433759

I'm sure if you asked someone very nicely they could do you up an avatar. Very nicely.
