This was a test to see how different media elements might work together. Media used: masking fluid (yeah, again I tried and again it ripped the paper--I need to get some new stuff), watercolor, alcohol ink and watercolor paper (cold press).
The masking fluid (liquid latex) I have may be past it's expiration date--I can't tell if the date on it (which was a month and a year) is the date at which it was packaged or if it was expiration dates, because I bought it the same month this date was stamped on there. If it's expired, then it was clearly sitting in the store for a very long time. Interestingly enough--it did work better the THICKER it was laid out on the paper. See the dots? I used a dropper to apply those masking fluid drops, as opposed to a brush with the larger "cloud form"--those dots peeled off fairly easily and did NOT rip the paper. So, if I use this stuff, I may need to apply very thickly. Or I may need to only use it in very small areas to avoid mass rips.
The alcohol ink I was testing to see if I could use it over applied watercolor. I have a few shiny metallic colors, which I think might look better with these inks over the watercolors. Yes, they look okay, but--they do interfere and skew the watercolors (i.e., they reactivate the liquid base and make it congeal around where the alcohol inks were dropped. As these were tests on a random piece of abstraction--at least I did not destroy a potential art piece using them. XD

Pretty! Masking fluid seems like a pain though, what kind of sturdy paper do you need to use for it?? xD
