This watercolor piece was done with the least expensive kind of watercolors that you can pick up at a dollar store or Wal-Mart in the kids/crafts aisles.
Brown is an ugly color to do in a cheap medium. :p The "cheapness" shows, if you're trying to do a quality piece--these kinds of cheap watercolors often don't blend well, dry fast and leave "crusts" and often take LOTS of water (more than you should need) to get them started. But, if you're unfamiliar with watercolors and want to give it a go--these are good places to start, so you can get used to mixing, using and dealing with watercolors.
I did use some of my metallic watercolors for background decor, but I'll cover that in a different upload.

I've noticed that certain darker colors--cheap or not--just don't blend well when you paint @_@
