Germany, Austria, Switzerland. Switzerland had the nicest nature areas.

I expect that's true. Although, did you make it up to the Black Forest? I've never been, but everyone says it's like walking through a fairy tale, what with all the castles on hills and brightly-colored toadstools and charming little villages and whatnot.

I ventured around the Black Forest, but I didn't really see what I was expecting. There were certainly castles and small villages abound (practically an infestation), but the forest itself seemed to lack an area where one could simply wander off and not find anything for miles. It took some hunting to find a zone that was deep, dark, and mossy.
Admittedly, I was only in the Black Forest area for two days. I may have simply missed it.

Or it could just be overpopulated, too. Europe isn't exactly known for its low population density and wide-open spaces (at least, not Western Europe).
Anyway, sounds like you had a nice time. Glad you got a chance to go.
