Lamurian Temple of Transformation by JRWenzel

Lamurian Temple of Transformation
During the final days of Lamuria with the fleets all at sea, many of those that sensed the end was coming made a choice that would forever alter what the shape of the future would be.

A young man left his home, crossing the central market square.
Dressed in his finest cloak and leading his familiar mount with a simple bridle, he passed by the shops and waved to friends. Those that realized what he had in mind, touched him on the shoulder and let their hands pass slowly across the coat of his hoofed friend. The root he was taking could have only one end. The sacred temple lay at the end of that road and the finery of them both was a story unspoken, yet clearly told.

Just as he was about to cross the threshold to the outer sanctum he pauses...
The mighty steed at his side...
He ponders; questioning his resolve:
"Dare I tempt fate?"
"Dare I proceed with this overwhelming desire of mine?"
"And what of he and me?", "How much of one will become the other?"
"He has carried me and served me well, these years past..."
"Dare I not do this thing?"

He glances over his shoulder at the eye of the stallion beside him, realizing that he's been intently observed this whole time.
He speaks softly to the gentle massive form beside him,
"My friend, I envy you..."
"Your power and grace, your heart, your prowess and beauty..."
"Dare we become one?"

The stallion blinked his eyes, cocking his head slightly, and looked at his long-time companion. Giving a soft base snort, he turned his massive neck round and gently nuzzled the side of his companion's face.
The man whispered, "be it so then..."
"Even though I may loose all that is me, I shall forever become a part of you..."
"and you... a part of me."

His mind now set, the two proceeded forward with a slowness born of homage and respect. For where there are now two, only one as both, shall soon stand.

None of those that made such a choice could have imagined yet would soon realize, that so many would survive the coming cataclysm and forever alter the form of the many races now live within our world.

Lamurian Temple of Transformation

JRWenzel

Mytho-historical origins:

It has been said that ancient Atlantian and Lamurian peoples worshiped creatures that where combinations of human and animal.

Further supposition has stated that not only did they worship such creatures but that theses creatures actually existed and that the ancients possessed the knowledge to transform humans into them.

Going back over it, it reads like a teaser to a larger more detailed story . . .

Would anyone be interested if I were to expand it, making it into an illustrated short story?
