Bunny Link and the Legendary Flying Acorn by Joat

Bunny Link and the Legendary Flying Acorn

Joat

The following is the original text, as it was when I posted this on FA:

It is a late hour and this amused me far more than it should have.

Anyway, it has been a while since I've shown life on here, let alone given a Bunny Link's Awakening update. In any case, I am done with most of the sprites (the rest shall be covered by someone else - more on that later) and almost all of the dialogue for the game. Well, sort of almost done with the dialogue. Once I am done with this playthrough, I intend to do another one and take a second look at what I've written, to see if I truly think it's ready to be finalized.

It is kind of funny to think back to my previous screenshot submission, where I mused on how I may be going a bit overboard with helping Ryusuta with a project she had not started or even declared, given how much I have now completed on the project by myself.

Heck, I have even received word from Ryusuta that she considers this to be my project rather than hers. The me who posted that first sprite sample would have found it hard to believe that I would do such a large part of the work for the project that Ryusuta could say that with a straight face. Or... straight text, rather. Point is, I get warm fuzzies from what she said, since it really does say a lot about how far I have come.

Mind, I still have no delusions about completing this project alone. As those who have gazed upon my favorites recently have likely already noticed, there is another member of the team. He is creating the cutscene/photo artwork, along with a chunk of the sprites for the very end of the game, right before the ending cutscene, which were the only sprites I did not have done when he contacted me.

This frees me up to work on the dialogue. Also, though, it allays a major fear I had about the project. As time went on, I realized that I could handle the dialogue and sprites alone (though I am quite thankful for Dr. Doc MD taking over those ending sprites). However, what I knew for a fact I could not handle, at least not without years of dedication and practice, was the cutscene and photo graphics (though, in the case of the latter, I could simply remove the photographer from the game if need be, though such is not ideal).

I felt that, if Ryusuta did not step up to the task of drawing cutscene/photo graphics for the project, I would have trouble finding anyone to lend their art toward the project for free, let alone someone very talented at art who would do so. Then suddenly, Dr. Doc MD showed up and proceeded to exceed my expectations by far. Heck, he even exceeded my hopes. I did not think to hope for someone who is not only skilled at art and willing to work for free, but also has a fair amount of hacking knowledge.

Heck, given his artistic talent, I'm surprised at the fact that he's not uploaded anything here before his images for the project. Nor does he have any linked pages on his user page. Given how I know nothing of his past and how he showed up from out of nowhere to save the day, well... I know it's obviously not actually the case, but I've had the silly mental image pass through my mind of him actually being Ryusuta under a different name, assisting me under this different identity as a sort of secret test of character. For what purpose this imaginary scenario would take place, I have no idea. Perhaps to test my worthiness to be the leader of the game hacking empire, to rule with an iron fist... or gum wing... or whatever. And then, as I rule, I would go on magical adventures together with a rebellious princess, a broody anti-hero with an unknown past, and a talking pet of some sort, all while traveling in a bubblegum spaceship that happens to be shaped like a giant carrot.

...Yeah, I should probably get some sleep now.
