How (Not) To Train Your Dragon

JenKiwi

Newton and the Temple Dragon.

The Temple Dragon does not like Newton. Or, rather, the Temple Dragon would like nothing more than to buck the magic-sealing curse that's shrunk him down to the size of a hatchling, and murder the wizard responsible for said curse (Newton) as slowly and painfully as possible. So long as he's stuck in his current tiny, impotent form, however, he's content to merely menace said wizard as often and as thoroughly as possible.

Newton, meanwhile, has learned to keep the fire-proofing wards on his robes current at all times, and is getting better at casting Heal spells.

...Don't mind me, I'm silly.
Characters from an old Bob Kiwi & Company story of mine (A Scythe in Time).

Submitted this for the Anthrocon 2011 (Anthropomorphic Institute of Magic) Conbook. It got in, despite my scanner's attempts to maim it (though I do apologize for the dustblobs in the printed image), which made me a happy kiwi, but for some reason I neglected to upload it here at the time, and keep forgetting to upload it.

...Possibly b/c I really want a nifty sorcerer's lair type background with lots of magic tomes, melty candles, strings of dried herbs and weird roots, jars of random creepy things (eyes of various sizes, twisted feet, unusual seed pods, sparkly sand/dust, brightly-colored feathers, odd rocks, etc), bulbous hanging blown-glass lights, and probably some dragon bones or a skull or whatnot lying about.

BUT since I haven't taken the time to draw such a background yet, enjoy it in its brackground-less glory for now. Mad props to indigoangelcat for rockin' out the shading on this piece when I was too chicken to shade the flat colors...
